Marathon bearings utilize a larger diameter pin and a shock-absorbing thicker outer race for higher fracture toughness. The resulting increased cross-sectional area helps prevent premature bearing failures, even under the sustained rpm red-line abuse of professional endurance racing. In drag racing, Marathon bearings withstand higher (up to 1/2 ton) spring loads, delivering more than twice the number of runs between rebuilds.
