Red-Zone roller lifters feature the Marathon roller bearing that keeps on rolling longer. Marathon bearings utilize a larger diameter pin and a shock-absorbing thicker outer race for higher fracture toughness. The resulting increased cross-sectional area helps to prevent premature bearing failures, even under the sustained-rpm red line abuse of professional endurance racing. In drag racing, Marathon bearings withstand higher (up to 1/2-ton) spring loads, delivering more than twice the number of runs between rebuilds.
