Childs & Albert The company that has revolutionized piston ring technology, has now after year of research, developed the ultimate ductile plasma moly compression ring called DURA-MOLY. There are many important features that set C&A's DURA-MOLY piston rings above all others. Each ring is precision ground to exceptionally close tolerances prior to the application of the DURA-MOLY surface. This ensures a consistent thickness for all DURA-MOLY compression rings. And exclusive moly support groove was designed to give DURA-MOLY rings superior, reciprocal stability. Childs & Albert developed a new moly formula that is able to handle higher combustion temperatures and pressures. Hence the name DURA-MOLY. Today's racing engines, because of their higher horsepower output, demand the highest quality components-C&A's DURA-MOLY piston rings are the answer. The net result is that C&A's DURA-MOLY rings seal quicker, seal better, and last longer.

The one surefire way to maximize the performance of any engine is to "seal" in the combustion pressure. Combustion energy that escapes past the piston rings or through the ring end gap is lost. In fact, the leakage can be counterproductive in the form of excessive loss of horsepower. To enable engine builders to achieve an optimum seal, Childs & Albert developed the "ZGS' (Zero Gap Second) ring. The ZGA feature an interlocking step and and inner "boot" to effectively seal a cylinder. Leakdown meter readings under 1% are common with ZGS rings in a fresh motor, while ordinary gap type 2nd rings can easily show leakage in excess of 5 to 7%. Taking things a step further Childs & Albert engineers combined the sealing ablility of it's "Zero Gap" ring with the superior oil control characteristics of a "Tapered Face" design to produce the "ZGTF" 2nd ring. This exclusive design is clearly the best of both worlds. Close inspection reveals the face of  the ZGTF is machined on an angle to form what is essentially a "scraper." This does two things. First it acts like a "squeegee" to provide excellent oil control. Secondly, because of a reduced contact area there is less cylinder wall drag during other cycles. You should also know that C&A manufactures the ZGTF ring from a ductile material, as opposed to ordinary cast iron. In addition to providing s spring like quality to enhance sealing, it also has superior wear characteristics. One final point. Since Childs & Albert ZGS rings seal on a horizontal plane they are not susceptible to the problems that occur with 2 piece rings when their gaps align on a vertical axis. Bottom line: the ZGTF ring provides the most effective and reliable seal on the market.
